The school is an important part of our close community and we share part of the building with many groups from the village.

Unlike many schools we allow the use of our beautiful grounds and facilities out of school hours. Our only request is that our premises are treated with respect. Many families and youngsters come and enjoy our field and play equipment and lots of Long Whatton children have taken their first wobbly few feet on their bikes on our playground.

Children are visiting the art group in the community centre and the organic farm in the
village at lambing time.
GARDENING! We are also supported in the promotion of gardening in school, by Matthew Wilby of Waltons of Nottingham, and like Matthew we believe that gardening is the perfect opportunity for children to learn and interact. It is a great way to involve children in experiments and the outdoors which is becoming increasingly difficult with technology advancing as fast as it is.
Waltons are looking to help schools and their pupils learn and interact and have kindly donated a raised bed in which the children can grow - well whatever they like! Check the website at www.waltons.co.uk. (not yet a link)
