'Do you want to be friends?'

We have learnt all about our own special qualities, similarities and differences and friendships with each other. We have thought about how to communicate effectively with each other, to work as a team and how to be a good friend.

To enhance our learning we have also thought about people who help us. Throughout October we have had three very exciting visits!

A real nurse came to visit. She showed us her special badge, bandages, stethoscope and other medical equipment. She explained that she had to work very hard to become a nurse. We thought about how nice it is to be able to help other people feel better.

Four firefighters came to visit. We got to sit in the real fire engine making sure we put our seat-belts on, squirt the fire hose and learn all about fire safety. In English we wrote questions to ask the firefighters such as 'how do you know when there is a fire?' and 'why do you wear a special mask?'

In our final week two police officers came to meet us. They taught us about their important job fighting crime and what to do if we ever needed to contact the police.

In R.E. we have been thinking about Christianity especially about creation. We learnt how Christians believe that God made the world in 6 days and on the 7th day he rested. We learnt how Christians believe that God is very special.

We thought about what else is special to us in our lives. Towards the end of September and beginning of October we learnt all about harvest. We picked vegetables and fruits from the poly tunnel and vegetable plot, washed them and shared them. We also made and baked bread flavouring it with chives and herbs from the garden. Once back in class we wrote a prayer to God to thank him for the harvest and shared our bread with one another.
