Local Offer & Policy

At Long Whatton CE Primary School we acknowledge that all children have different needs and that these needs may differ during their time with us.  Children may need extra support with their learning, they may need extra challenge to stretch their thinking and really engage their thinking, they may need support with managing their behaviour and making good choices to enable them to learn well and get on with others or they may need support with emotional or social issues that can affect learning.

We support those children who need learning support through regular intervention groups and extra support in the classroom, and we work closely with support agencies.  We are also driving forward a programme to support our highest achieving children, which involves working with our partner schools in the BeSKiLD Trust. This has proved to be an exciting and effective programme that has enhanced learning and challenged children.

Behaviour for learning in our school is outstanding, but for those children who, for whatever reason, find it harder to make good behaviour decisions, we have a clear hierarchy of strategies for supporting them. We have a Family Outreach Worker and use a counselling service to support children and parents when the need arises.
Please also see our Behaviour and Anti-bullying Policy, Inclusion Policy, Tiredness Policy and our Intimate Care Policy in the policies section.
