Parents and Teachers Association

Our PTA is a group of keen volunteers from our parents and teachers who work together to raise funds for additional resources for our school.

The PTA usually meets once every half term and runs school discos, family events such as bingo and quizzes, provides refreshments at most school events, organises gift sales for Christmas, Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day and much more.  They also organise our legendary camp-out which is held every summer where families enjoy an afternoon and evening together as a school community and then camp out on the school field after chatting around the BBQ and camp fire.

The PTA has funded many things around the school including additional resources for Maths and English, extra Chrome books for the ICT learning, transport to the Panto and for school trips, costumes for the school play, and treats for the children for both Christmas and Easter.

A few years ago, the parents of the school voted for a legacy project which would improve the school both for the current children and those who will attend in the future.  This project is to build a shelter within our wonderful forest school area so that children can comfortably continue their learning in the woodlands whatever the weather.  The PTA have recently secured funding from the Miss Jones Bequest Fund, the Long Whatton Parish Council and a donation from the estate of Mr Eric Scott-Parker which combined with their fundraising means that the construction of the shelter is now under way.

The PTA is a great way to get more involved with the school and become part of the Long Whatton team.  New members are always welcome and the PTA can be contacted through the school office or by chatting to one of the team.
